Freshers Autonomous Robotics Event

STORY LINE

Its 2065. In the world of future, battles and wars have gone worse. Countries are using modified humans as war machines. But, all of this must come to an end. Thus, UN has asked you, the lead engineer of a grand robotics company, to design an autonomous robotic war machine, capable of eliminating hostiles correctly. As a responsible human being, you accept the challenge. So you design your robot and send it for a real test in Kapistan. The Prime minister of Lamaysia has been held there with other hostages by Balitan, a terrorist group. Your bot must work correctly and make an example to the whole world. You will get live feed of your bot and the surroundings from the Oogle satellites from space. Best of luck!!!!

Problem Statement

You have to build an AUTONOMOUS BOT capable of traversing the arena. You will be provided with live image feed of the arena. The bot should be of dimension 15cm x 15cm x 15cm (with 2cm tolerance). We will place a marker with blue (for head) and green (for body) on top of your bot.The arena will be containing 10 cylinders (humans) coloured red on the tops.
Among them some will have white coloured bodies (HOSTAGES) and others will have black coloured bodies (TERRORISTS).

Your Bot has to :

        1. Start from a white area in the arena.
        2. Go to each human and face towards him in the black portion of the arena.
        3. Identify the terrorists, and return to the white area.
        4. If your bot pushes any human, points will be deducted.
        5. If your bot detects a terrorist, it has to give a sound or light an LED for a considerable time (which simulates the gunfire).
        6. After returning to the white area, you have to give the sound 3 times (or blink the LED 3 times), marking the end of the run.

#Note:
Digital image will be provided to a folder in your laptop over the LAN cable at about 10 frames per second.  For more details go through this link ..

General Rules

  1. The participating teams can have maximum of four members.
  2. Lego kits are not allowed.
  3. Bots larger the specified size may be disqualified.
  4. Any Damage to the Arena will lead to disqualification of the team.
  5. All decisions of Team Robodarshan are final.
  6. The participants will be provided with 220 Volts, 50 Hz standard AC supply. Participants will have to themselves arrange for any other power supply required for their robot.
  7. Robodarshan volunteers will assist participants in managing the wires.
  8. The participants can NOT touch the bot during runtime, if the bot gets stuck at the corners, volunteers will help in unsticking it, for which points will be deducted.
  9. Time and scoring details will be notified later.

Measurements

Dimensions:

  • Bot: not more than 15cm x 15cm x 15cm
  • Cylinders: Diameter – 10cm; Height – 20cm
